The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides patient care and federal benefits to Veterans and their dependents. If you are caring for Veterans, your patient’s Veteran status can open the door to a large number of resources, including eligibility for VA healthcare. This course tackles three main learning objectives. It describes many of the benefits available to Veterans through the VA system, and discusses eligibility criteria, including special circumstances. Dr. Angkaw explains a number of ways to support your Veteran patients apply for VA healthcare and other benefits. She also goes into detail about the consultation services for providers available at the VA, as well as education and app-based learning you can access as a provider who cares for Veterans.
Connecting with the VA is intended for healthcare providers and is narrated by Dr. Abigail C. Angkaw, a member of the PTSD Consultation Program within the VA’s National Center for PTSD.
