New resources from Wounded Warrior Project and PsychArmor offer training for Veteran peer leaders and honor the service of women Veterans

San Diego, CA – Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) and PsychArmor announce the release of two new resources: a Peer Leader training series for Veterans and a series of video courses exploring the service of women Veterans. The resources are the latest in an ongoing partnership to provide critical training and education for those who seek  to more effectively engage with and support wounded warriors and their loved ones, as well as other service members, Veterans, caregivers and their families. Both resources will be available through WWP and on PsychArmor’s online learning library, free to individual learners.

The 10-part Peer Leader Training series prepares Veterans to lead their fellow Warriors and run successful peer support groups. The first episode establishes that becoming a Veteran peer leader only requires openness, authenticity and the desire to serve and empower fellow heroes.  Additional topics include establishing a group, facilitating and resolving conflict, burnout, and leading warriors with military sexual trauma (MST), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Veteran peer leaders serve as the subject matter experts and narrators for this series and all content is informed by clinical research.

The four-part Women Veterans series includes: Then and Now, Who We Are, Our Unique Service, and  Becoming Civilians. These courses explore the history, triumphs, and unique challenges of women in uniform from the Revolutionary War to present day.  This series is designed to bring light to the valuable service of the fastest growing group of Veterans and support WWP’s Women Warriors Initiative. Women Veterans serve as the subject matter experts and narrators for this series.

Wounded Warrior Project will offer both resources internally and to the Veteran community.  PsychArmor will serve as a force multiplier by offering these best-practice resources through multiple networks including healthcare provider training and military/Veteran programs.

"We are thrilled our collaboration with PsychArmor will enhance and expand the programming available to warriors, their families, and caregivers,” said Tracy Farrell, vice president of program partnerships and operations at WWP. “Over the last 20 years, WWP has spearheaded the importance of connection in peer-to-peer mentorship while continuing to advocate for the unique needs of the female veteran population. These new resources will bring awareness to the military and veteran community and the role we can all play in their recovery.”

For the last 20 years, WWP has been committed to serving the needs of wounded, injured, and ill post-9/11 veterans, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.  WWP also serves the family members and caregivers who are an integral part of the warrior’s recovery and transition back into civilian life. WWP offers life-changing services in mental and brain health, career counseling, benefits, physical health and wellness, advocacy, and long-term rehabilitative care. The Veterans charity has teammates in offices around the country to support post-9/11 wounded warriors, their families, and caregivers.

PsychArmor is a leading national nonprofit and preferred training provider which specializes in military cultural awareness and competency. Its offerings include online courses, curricula, podcasts, webinars, live speaking engagements, and social media.

“Our partnership with Wounded Warrior Project has allowed us to be responsive to identified needs in military-connected communities,” says PsychArmor CEO Dr. Tina Atherall. “The Peer Leader series is in direct response to current conversations around the need for social connection as a critical component for mental health wellness, while the Women Veterans series champions the diversity of our military culture.”
