RAMI BENBENISHTY, Ph.D.
Rami Benbenishty got his Ph.D. in Social Work and Psychology from the University of Michigan. He was a professor at Paul Barewald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University and in recent years he is a professor at the ZZ School of Social Work at Bar Ilan University.His scholarship focuses on children, and especially on children and youth at risk, both in the community and in out of home care. He studies child abuse and neglect in the community, children in out of home care, and school climate.Benbenishty served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and retired as a Major. He participated in two wars and also served as a mental health officer as part of the reserve forces. He was a researcher in the Mental Health Department of the IDF Medical Corps. He is now studying the impact of political violence (war and terror) on young persons in Israel, both in the community and in out of home care.Benbenishty worked with Astor and colleagues in the Building Capacity and Welcoming Practices Consortia designed to support military-connected students and families in public schools.
